Removing Stains
In many cases, we will spot-treat stains prior to cleaning, using a mix of chemicals specific to the type of stain. This makes for far more effective removal - but attempting to treat a stain with the wrong thing can make things far worse. Below are some common mistakes people make - if in doubt, always ask a professional: we can give free advice over the phone or by email
- DO NOT try to remove stains with water. It will set any stains containing protein, such as blood, milk or egg.
- DO NOT try to remove grease-based stains, such as meat fat, mayonnaise or candle wax, dry cleaning is the best option.
- DO NOT use soap to remove stains. Again soap will set stains containing tannins such as tea or coffee, some berries, felt-tip pen, ink and fizzy drinks. White wine can be applied to red wine stains, but must be done immediately after the wine has been spilt.
