The Moran family have been in the dry-cleaning business for over 40 years, since Mike entered the business as a schoolboy in the early 1960's. In 1966 Mike and Pat launched their first dry-cleaners in Hounslow, South-West London, with the flag-ship Chiswick shop opening two years later.
Additional outlets followed in Hounslow, Isleworth and Crystal Palace and Mike rapidly became recognised not only for the quality of his technical dry-cleaning knowledge but for his innovative and forward-thinking approach to the business.
The major innovation was the Auto Valet 24-hour collection system, imported from the USA and installed as the first of its kind in the UK in 1975. This step reflected the desire to improve the service package traditionally offered to customers and to take advantage of the best technology available to the industry. It is also very much indicative of the commitment to customer service that has remained a consistent theme throughout all Top Hat operations over the years.

Their son Mike entered the business in 1985 and although he benefitted from Mike and Pat’s experience, he soon developed his own high skill levels and trade knowledge. Two years later Mike took over the operation and since then, for over 20 years now, Mike has provided top-class dry-cleaning services to the West London area.
With such knowledge and experience underpinning the Top Hat business, the Morans have regularly provided business advice to others either considering a move into dry-cleaning or to existing operators seeking to improve their performance.
While Mike senior provides an unparalleled big picture view, Mike junior addresses the day-to-day requirements of a successful dry-cleaning operation and brother Paul utilises his marketing background to round-out the Moran consultancy package.
